Andrew Crook

Executive Director of Y Guides
Nick Name:
Golden Otter

Where were you born? Schenectady, New York, but grew up in Wilson NC.

Favorite memory from Y Guides? During Moose's last weekend at Camp Rockmont I had the chance to go flying as his final Blobbee.

What did you want to be when you grew up? An astronaut...there's still time.

What are your favorite hobbies? I really enjoy walking my dog Penny on local greenways, running, and planning my next adventure somewhere fun.

What is your favorite part of working for Y Guides? I have been around for a while now, so I have really enjoyed seeing pairs grow up through the program, starting as a first year and now driving their dad to Camp and volunteering at Outings.

If you could visit anywhere, where would you go? Iceland!

What's the most important thing you've learned in life? I have learned the most important thing in life is that you always have a choice with your attitude. My first job with the Y was as a counselor with Camp Sea Gull, and no matter how tough of a time I was having, there were always my campers looking to me for support. I miss my time working at Camp, but this lesson still holds true today, you never know when you may have an impact on someone else.
