Chas Sharp

Senior Program Director
Nick Name:
Swift Arrow

Where were you born? I was born and raised in Apex, NC.

Favorite memory from Y Guides? My third year as a participant during my tribe’s (Ojibwa) raft race we sank right off the line.  We clung to anything that floated and proceeded to kick our way around the course and back to the finish line.  Needless to say, we did not win.

What did you want to be when you grew up? A fire truck.  Not a fireman, an actual fire truck, until I was about 5 when I realized that was impossible.  After that, it switched to anything where I got to work with people outdoors.

What are your favorite hobbies? Anything outdoors preferably around water and with friends and family.  I’m a big sailor and love fishing on the coast.

What is your favorite part of working in Y Guides? Getting to be a part of memories that last a lifetime and helping foster positive family relationships.

If you could visit anywhere, where would you go? Somewhere on a sailboat.

What's the most important thing you've learned in life? If not me, then who; if not now, then when?  This was a valuable lesson that I learned as a CILT at Camp Sea Gull.  Sometimes we have to be the change we want to see in the world, even when no one is watching.
