I was born and raised in Apex, NC.
My third year as a participant during my tribe’s (Ojibwa) raft race we sank right off the line. We clung to anything that floated and proceeded to kick our way around the course and back to the finish line. Needless to say, we did not win.
A fire truck. Not a fireman, an actual fire truck, until I was about 5 when I realized that was impossible. After that, it switched to anything where I got to work with people outdoors.
Anything outdoors preferably around water and with friends and family. I’m a big sailor and love fishing on the coast.
Getting to be a part of memories that last a lifetime and helping foster positive family relationships.
Somewhere on a sailboat.
If not me, then who; if not now, then when? This was a valuable lesson that I learned as a CILT at Camp Sea Gull. Sometimes we have to be the change we want to see in the world, even when no one is watching.
