GongaBear's New Adventure!

Pals and Friends,

The Y Guides program has been so fortunate to spend the past almost three years in Y Guides (and 13 years with the broader YMCA of the Triangle!) in friendship, leadership, and communications with Max Gongaware, more fondly known as GongaBear.

While we are sad to share this, we are also excited to let you know that GongaBear has accepted a new challenge and adventure. He has accepted a role as Premium Customer Success Manager with Bandwith in Raleigh. His last day with Y Guides will be Sunday, January 9 at Winter Inning at Marbles Kids Museum.

In his tenure with Y Guides, GongaBear has served as our primary communicator to our participants by managing all aspects of the Y Guides website, email communications, social media presence, and marketing and promotions. He has led the vision for design elements and content creation, such as patch and shirt designs for events and our promotional and fun videos. All of these skills came in super handy when we had to shift to a more virtual space during the pandemic, where he helped design many virtual experiences for our participants such as crew meetings, dad-daughter dance, and so many other virtual events. He was a pivotal member of the Y Guides branding refresh in the fall of 2020, to ensure our program remains relevant, welcoming and inclusive for all. He has built relationships with many community partners and helped to connect participants to exciting opportunities in our community. His poise and stage presence always led to a captivated and engaged audience. And, not to mention, GongaBear has some of the best jokes and one-liners around, he certainly perfected the dad humor over the past few years. Most importantly, he has built relationships, shared many laughs and been a great friend to all of us in the Y Guides program. GongaBear’s leadership and support have been so critical to the success and growth of our program over the last three years.

We invite you to leave your well-wishes for GongaBear on our Facebook and Twitter pages. Share your favorite memories, stories and pictures. Please join us in celebrating and thanking GongaBear for his service to Y Guides and the YMCA!

Pals Forever, Friends Always. Here, Hear!
