Chief Crawling Bear's Letter to the Arapahoe Nation

Arapahoe Nation,

I want to thank you all for being a part of the Y Guides Program as we celebrated 50 Years of Y Guides. It has been a tremendous honor to serve as Chief this year and I look forward to passing the torch to Brian Etheridge (Flying Squirrel) in the fall at Camp Kanata.

A few highlights for me were bringing the torch to the Campfire at Camp Kanata with my children. As we sat in the canoe, under the stars with the anticipation of meeting our new tribes, I couldn't help but reflect on how impactful this program truly is. The memories at Camps Sea Gull and  Seafarer going down the zip line will always be a cherished memory for my family.

One of my most proud moments during my year as the Nations Chief was leading the Third Year Walk at Spring Outing with my fellow Nations Officers. Seeing our vision come to light, with the help of our Long Bow Council, represented the unique way our program continues to connect fathers to their children even after the third year comes to a close. Our hope is that this new tradition becomes a favorite of the Arapahoe Nation.

Our program is the best in the Nation because of the strength of our community and your willingness to give back. Thank you all for your support over the past year and I look forward to seeing everyone as we welcome our new First Year tribes into the Arapahoe Nation for the 51st year of Y Guides!
