Welcome Spotted Turtle

Hey All!

My name is Caitlin “Spotted Turtle” Herrion and I am originally from Massachusetts. I moved down the east coast growing up. I graduated from J.H. Rose High School in Greenville, NC and then received a degree in Elementary Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After graduation, I taught fourth grade in Durham, NC. I got my start in the YMCA as a camp counselor with the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA. I continued to work at summer camp while I was a teacher. My love for how the YMCA impacts the whole child in a fun environment continued to grow, which led me to pursue the YMCA full time.

I joined the Kerr YMCA in the Wakefield/Wake Forest area of North Raleigh in the spring of 2012. I worked with the Kerr YMCA youth programs for five years. I have to say my favorite role working at the Kerr YMCA was serving as the Camp Kerr Directors for five summers. My love for how special camp can be and getting to know campers and their families led me to the Y Guides program.

When I’m not at the YMCA, I love spending time with friends and family. I enjoy being outside. I love running and reading. Whenever I can get down to the beach, I take the opportunity.

I am thrilled to join the Y Guides team and to get to meet most of you at Spring Outings down at camp.

Sincerely,

Spotted Turtle
