We're just about ready to begin registration for the 2021-22 Y Guides program year! We can't wait for another class of dads and kids to join us. Through Y Guides, you will build upon your relationship with your child while forming memories that will last a lifetime. Whether you're brand new to the Y Guides program or you're back for more Y Guides fun with a younger child, we are delighted that you'll be joining us for an amazing journey. The 2021-22 program year will begin in the fall, but there are steps that you can take during the summer to set yourselves up for success.

Form Your Y Guides Crew
Y Guides participants form small groups of father/child pairs called Crews. The bulk of your Y Guides experience will happen with your Crewmates by your side. You and your Crew will create a special bond while hosting Crew Meetings, adventuring to Crew Outings and attending Y Guides signature events at Camp Kanata, Camp Sea Gull and Camp Seafarer.
We recommend that Crews consist of 6 - 10 father/child pairs and that all children are the same age and the same gender, but - of course - there is some flexibility based on your needs. The summertime is a great time to go ahead and begin forming your Crew. If you know of other dads and kids in your neighborhood, at your school, who play on the same sports teams, go to the same church, or otherwise, they might want to join your Crew. If you've already formed your Crew, all that's left to do is register!
2021-22 Y Guides Registration
We anticipate that online registration for the 2021-22 program year will open by the end of June or in early July. Once registration is open, we will send out another email to provide logistics and instructions to complete the registration process. You should only complete the registration process once your Y Guides Crew has been formed. Stay tuned for continued updates and details as soon as they're available.

What do I do if I need help to form my Y Guides Crew? If you need help finding Crewmates, that's okay! We recommend joining the Y Guides Crew Formation Facebook Group and trying to find Crewmates that way. Or, you can complete this online webform and the Y Guides Staff can place you with others in your area who've completed the same form.
I decided not to join Y Guides last year when my child was in first grade because of COVID-19. Can I still join as a first-year this year? Y Guides is proud to have been able to provide safe and innovative programming to thousands of participants during the 2020-21 program year, but we recognize that many may have chosen not to participate due to the uncertainty around COVID-19. If you decided not to participate as a first-year last year, but want to register as a first-year now, you are welcome to do so!
When does the Y Guides program year begin? In many ways, the program year begins NOW, with dads working to form their Y Guides Crews over the summer. The first official Y Guides events of the year will be the First-Year Dads Training in September and Fall Outing at Camp Kanata in October and November.
What else is happening this summer? You're invited to join Y Guides for Flight Day on Saturday, June 26 at Dorothea Dix Park. This is a great way to get some exposure to the Y Guides program while also enjoying a beautiful day at the park. Registration for the event is FREE, but required so that we know how many people to expect. Learn more.
