Lou Seaman

Director of Y Guides
Nick Name:
Howlin' Hippo

Where were you born? I was born in Royal Oak, Michigan a town just north of Detroit. I grew up in Michigan until my Mid 20’s when I relocated to central Florida where I worked for the Walt Disney Company. I spent about a decade there before moving to Wake Forest, NC in 2020.

What did you want to be you grew up? I really wanted to be a comic book artist when I was younger. I really loved drawing and creating stories. I always thought that art was going to be my future until I started working at a YMCA summer camp.

What are your favorite hobbies? I have always loved to draw and doodle. I also like to play video games and table top games. When out at camp I love to visit the archery range.

What do you enjoy most working for Y Guides? I am most excited about the opportunity to work with fellow Dads. As a new Dad I know the importance of dedicated time with your kids and Y Guides allows me to help create that.

If you could visit anywhere, where would you go? A few years ago I had an opportunity to visit Ireland and loved every minute of it. I would love to go back now that I have seen the country and revisit my favorite spots.

What's the most important thing you've learned in life? When you can say yes, say it. I have found that in life if you have the opportunity to help someone or assist with a task you should say yes, if you can. There will be times when you can’t say yes or have to say no and that’s okay because we can’t say yes to everything.
