Looking for an Awesome Service project?
The Third year service project will be held inside the food bank warehouse from 9:00 a.m.-12: p.m. on Saturday, March 14th.
This project is a third-year event intended to allow pairs or crews the opportunity to volunteer. While supporting the Food Bank in this activity, volunteers may be asked to assist with the following tasks:
- Sorting produce and placing it into family-size bags
- Sorting donations from retail stores
- Cleaning and bagging Capri Sun pouches
- Building CSFP boxes for senior citizens
- Sorting and inspecting food drive donations from individuals and corporate partners
- Cleaning and sorting eggs
- Bagging cereal, rice, or pasta into family-size bags
- Assisting with other activities, depending on donations received
Reminder: Closed-toe shoes are required at all times while volunteering at the Food Bank.

Drive -In Movie 2026
Y GUIDES DRIVE-IN MOVIE
When: Saturday, March 21. Gates open at 6:00 p.m.
Where: Front field at Camp Kanata. 13524 Camp Kanata Road, Wake Forest, NC 2758
Movie: Monster's Inc, rated PG.
Bring the whole family and join Y Guides for a Drive-In at Camp Kanata on Saturday, March 21 as we enjoy Monster's Inc. All you have to do is park your car and we'll handle the rest!

Captain's Challenge 2026
This year's Captain's Challenge is all about telling your Y Guide's story.
Capture details and memories of your adventures together!
Big Guides and Little Guides—this is your chance to reflect on your Y Guides journey. Journal about a favorite experience or activity you’ve shared or a new skill you learned together. Get creative and decorate your story with drawings, photos or stickers.
Your challenge is to answer three questions from your program year Here.
Complete your story and share it with your other crew members by your Spring Outing and earn the
exclusive Captain’s Challenge patch at Camp Sea Gull or Camp Seafarer. Use the back of the Captain's Challenge sheet linked to answer your questions.
Extra credit: Display your story on construction paper, poster board, or small notebook or find Captain's Laughing Owl at upcoming 2026 events and share.

Swim assessments are available at the YMCA whenever "Family Play" is listed on their pool schedule. To view their pool schedule and book a time to take your swim assessment, visit the YMCA of the Triangle's schedule page, then scroll down to "Pool Schedules," filter the category to "Family Play" and change the location to a pool near you. Upon arrival, please head to the front desk for assistance in directing you to the lifeguard's office. You can take the swim assessment even if you are not a member of the YMCA.
Carrboro-Chapel Hill Holiday Parade
Kick off the holiday season by walking in the Carrboro-Chapel Hill Community Holiday Parade with Crews from all over the Triangle!
Y Guides and Trailblazers are invited to join a group of seasoned parade walkers. Bring the whole family to participate! You're encouraged to wear festive gear (Santa hats, reindeer antlers, holiday sweaters etc.) and Y Guides Crews are encouraged to wear vests and make Crew banners. As a bonus, all Y Guides walkers will earn a patch!
Only one person from each Crew should complete this form.
Make sure to include the number of people who will be in your group (including any non Y Guides, such as family members), a primary email address, and a mobile number for coordination.
The 2025 Carrboro-Chapel Hill Community Holiday Parade will be on Saturday, December 6 at 10:00 am. Additional details will be sent out closer to the event date, but plan to arrive with your full group between 8:30am - 9:00am.

Cary Jaycees-Christmas Parade 2025
Kick-off the holiday season by walking in the Cary Christmas Parade with crews from all over the Triangle!
Y Guides and Trailblazers are invited to join a group of seasoned parade walkers on Saturday, Dec. 13, from 1 - 4 p.m. (the parade starts at 2 p.m., but parade walkers must arrive to line up at 1 p.m.).
Bring the whole family to participate! Each family should plan to bring two bags of candy to hand out to the parade attendees. You're encouraged to wear festive gear (Santa hats, reindeer ears, etc.), and Y Guides crews are encouraged to wear vests and make crew banners. And plus, all Y Guides walkers will earn a patch!

Y Guides at Triangle Rock Club

Join us on Sunday, December 7 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Triangle Rock Club - Durham as we host a Y Guides only climbing night. Registration for each father-child pair is $25, additional climbers in your group can register for $12.50. You'll leave with new skills and confidence, as well as a patch! Story Time at the State Capitol
Come to the North Carolina State Capitol Saturday, November 8 to join historians reading children’s books about the state’s Revolutionary history! Staff from the North Carolina Historical Research and Publications office will read Within Our Power: The Story of the Edenton Ladies' Tea Party and Blue’s March: An Overmountain Men Tale.
Both books will be available for purchase.
Readings will take place in the Capitol at 11:30 am, 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm.
This event is free and open to all; no registration necessary.
Story Time is presented in partnership with Y Guides of the Triangle. Local Y Guides and their families are encouraged to attend if you aren’t already headed to a Third-Year Fall Outing overnight – the first 50 Y Guides in the Capitol will get a free Capitol patch! (After 50, patches will be sold to participants for $1.00 each.)
