Special Activities in "The Great Outdoors"

Pack up your flannels and start growing out your beards, because we're excited to spend Spring Outing 2020 in "The Great Outdoors" with you! Now's a great time to start planning ahead and looking forward to a full slate of activities at Camp Sea Gull and Camp Seafarer. Here's what to get excited about this year:

BRING YOUR BICYCLE TO CAMP!

Bicycles are a great way to get around at camp! Dads and kids are encouraged to bring bikes to camp. Don't forget to bring your helmet!

SPRING OUTING 5K

The annual Spring Outing 5K will begin at 1:45 p.m. on the Saturday of your Spring Outing weekend. Dads and kids are invited to meet between headquarters and the anchor at Camp Sea Gull and behind the Y Guides store at Camp Seafarer. Walk or run during this time to earn your 5K patch! If you are planning to bike the 5K, please do so on your own time. Signs that point out the 5K route will be on display throughout the weekend. If you bike the 5K on your own time, you can grab the 5K patch from the Y Guides store.

Special activities for "the Great Outdoors"

This Spring, we're excited to feature special activities that will help you to "Guide the Way" during your next outdoor adventure. You'll learn to throw an axe at a target. You'll create a nature-themed craft that you can take home. And finally, IT'S BACK! Once again, you'll get to enjoy Splash Zone, a 35-foot inflatable slip-n-slide at Spring Outing!

Find your true north

This year, Chief Big Minnehaha's Chief's Challenge is to "Find Your True North." True North is used by explorers and mariners to navigate over long distances. A compass points to “magnetic north,” the result of magnetic forces all around us that change the way the compass works. True North, however, is unchanging...it is always...it points the true way. So what does it mean to Find True North as a Y Guides participant? Find out here and be sure to complete the activity sheet to earn your Chief's Challenge patch.
